a.k.a. the Ozzie Open

The Ozzie Open is an annual that comedian, Dennis Piper, helps coordinate.  It includes a multi-comic show Sunday night and a golf tournament on Monday, followed by an awards ceremony and cook-out.  This is the 14th year for the tournament, the 10th including comedy.  It's all done in honor of the late David R. Osbourne (Ozzie), who was and still is very well-loved by many in the town of Oxford, Ohio.  All proceeds for the event go to a scholarship fund in Ozzie's name.  The scholarship is for a student graduating from local Talawanda High School who has participated in an extra-curricular activity (Ozzie was a wrestler).  The emphasis of the scholarship is that it's based on need and deservedness.  For example, this year the scholarship was awarded to a young lady named Megan, who, in addition to attending high school, takes care of her disabled father and works two jobs.

This year, I get to be the first woman to ever perform in the Ozzie Open comedy show!  I am one of two women on the bill this year, I just receive the title of "first" because I happen to be onstage 20 minutes before the other female comic, who is Tig (<--click here, her website is very cool ... check out FAQs), a very talented woman whom I worked with in Roswell, Georgia last year.

The lineup includes:  Estil Boyd, Jeff Jena, Christina Irene, Jon Ueberroth, Tig, Johnny Kavanaugh, Greg Lausch, John McClellan, and Dennis Piper.

The show is outstanding, and everyone I meet in Oxford is equally outstanding.  A great time is had!  Three links below.  Click, click, click.
