The Comedy Zone, Knoxville, Tennessee, May 15, 2004

This trip is an adventure.  I arrange to have a guest set at the Knoxville Comedy Zone for Saturday.  This after driving 12 hours Thursday, 9 hours Friday (should have been 8, but construction and downpours!!), and 12 and a half hours to get to Knoxville today -- that's 2 hours longer than it should be, but someone thought it would be wise to shut down I-40 through Nashville.  So I drive the last 3 hours of this trip having to pee and not knowing if I'm going to make it before the show starts.  Oh, and let's not forget my right rear blinker went out and I've only had 3 hours of sleep.  I'm feeling ROUGH.

Delirious, I sprint into the door minutes before showtime.

Here I am with the weekend's cast (from left): Mike Siscoe headlining, Eric Hunter featuring, and my good friend Steve Kane MCing.  I saw Steve his first-ever time onstage, and this always-funny guy has come a long way.

And here I am with the kind and hospitable club manager, Harold.  No, I'm not drunk.  I just look that way because of the 33 hours of stressful driving and lack of sleep.

So anyway, let's go to Waffle House!  Steve, Eric, Mike and I head out.  Mike and I are the only ones eating.  We both order Mike's favorite, this beef, bacon, cheese, and onion chunky-goopy stuff on buttery Texas toast.  Mmmmmmmmmmm.
