In honor of her recent birthday, I’m featuring an adventure with my late grandma. This is the tale of Hazel on the road. I took her with me for a weekend gig at one of my favorite clubs, Wiseacres, which like Grandma, is sadly no longer with us.
One of my fondest memories from this weekend, which I didn’t even mention in the blog, is of how nervous Grandma was when I took her into the tres posh Willard Hotel, just a few doors down from the White House. It was all I could do to get her to sit on the bench for me to take her picture. She was so afraid of being caught and thrown out.
