day 14 ...

Just 1 page of photos for day 14.

This morning, as I wobble out of bed, James surprises me with a giant blueberry muffin, very un-Kiwi to eat for breakfast, but very Christina.  Here's the beauty on the navy china.

Now for a drive on the desert side of the mountains.  See the two volcanoes here, the one on the right being Ruapahu.

A quarry in the volcanic rock.

A stream runs through it.

Now further north, passing through a world-famous trout town ...

... to get to Taupo, where I am yet again unable to avoid eating American food while abroad.  It's made harder by James constant insistence on eating at Subway.  Ok.  Cheap and healthy (well, if you don't order what I order).

We eat with views of Lake Taupo.

We make it back to Ohakune in time for another meal.  This time at a takeaway/diner place that serves regular Kiwi grub (not too unlike ours), as well as a full Chinese food menu.

And then on to an antique movie theatre where we watch Alien vs. Predator.  Very cool for a bad movie!

Finally, we're back at the ski lodge, today being Wednesday, November 3, which means it's still Tuesday, November 2 in America.  James checks his phone for updates on our presidential election ... which happens to be this week's biggest news in New Zealand.
