Beaufort, North Carolina

March 24-25, 2007

For two years, I lived an hour from the coast.  How wonderful it was to be so close to the ocean.  And sometimes, I just needed a break, so I perused my Rand-McNally map and sought out a local destination.  This time, I looked at Beaufort, NC and commenced some internet research on the place.  I decided it was a go.  I secured myself a waterfront room at a place called the Inlet Inn and left for a Saturday of peace and adventure (and yes, both do go together).

I absolutely love hotel rooms.  To me, they are home.  And the nice ones (hell, given some of the dives the clubs put me up in, even the adequate ones sometimes) make me giddy.  This one turned out to be fabulous!  And I was certainly giddy.

View of the Inlet Inn from the marina.

My room.  In order to get waterfront, I had to choose first or third floor.  First floor had a balcony, third didn't, but I wanted to be up higher.  Turns out third floor may not have a balcony, but it has a window seat and a vaulted ceiling.  Sweet.

And looking back at the door where I come in.

A kitchen-y nook.  I love nooks!

The view from my window seat.  BOATS!!!

The "hallway" is exterior.  This is the view from outside the door of my room.

Just down from my room is a meeting/common room.  Very nice.  And it does have a balcony.  By the way, any lodging that has a common area with books gets huge points with me.

Views from that balcony.

And now outside for the street-level harbor views.  And I'm out to enjoy the town.

A lot of gorgeous historic homes.  Many register markers on houses.
